Spent about three hours washing Evey and blacking out the bowties on Saturday.

Other than that, I’ve not been doing a whole lot. I saw Ninja Assassin last week and it was pretty good relative to what I was expecting. Lot of blood and ownage. :D

I also saw both of the Twilight movies, and…unfortunately…I liked them. :(

And now for the obligatory “what I’ve been listening to” part of the post. I have been into electronic stuff pretty hardcore lately, and my latest kick is electro-hop, which is – as it sounds – electronic hip-hop. I’ve never taken hip-hop lyrics seriously, but I’m really digging this genre (it helps that I love keytars :D ).

The band I’m enjoying the most is Hyper Crush. This video is for their song “The Arcade.” It’s pretty much about how awesome old school video games were, I guess. hahahaha.

I love the Mercedes emblem around Donny’s neck, the shirt Preston (the keytarist) is wearing, and the Super Mario Bros. video in the background with Megaman instead of Mario. :P

Remember, Remember

“Remember, remember the fifth of November.”

Plans for tonight: Community, The Office, then V for Vendetta. However, I have to sit through Parks and Recreation in the middle, so that’s kind of lame. :P

Anywho.

Lately I’ve taken to trying to memorize useless things, like a massive amount of the digits of pi and famous movie quotes. I don’t know why. :P

I really miss fixing computers sometimes, which makes me want to try to start a little side business, but I know I’ll never do it. :/

I reinstalled Snow Leopard and it fixed the issues I was having. Overall, it’s a much better experience, but still not all that much different from Leopard. I guess I can’t complain, since what is different only cost me $30. :D

Actually, I meant for this to be longer, but I’ll finish my thought process some other time.

A Magical Week

Last Sunday, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire came on TV, and being bored, I figured I’d watch it. I thought it was pretty good, so I finally decided to catch up on the Harry Potter craze and every night last week, I watched a Harry Potter movie until I was all caught up and ready to see the new one.

Of course, then I ran into a problem – I don’t really have anyone to go see movies with. I actually keep a list of movies that I want to see on my desktop so that I won’t forget about them six months later when they come out on DVD.

Luckily for me, the biggest Harry Potter fan I know (MC) came into town, so I went to see it with her, and it was awesome. Now I either have to wait two years for the final movies or read the seventh book. Not sure what I’m going to do about that.

And on a closing note, I think it’s pretty sad that in the past month and a half, I’ve hung out with someone that lives 6 hours away more than I’ve hung out with my friends that live an hour away. Something needs to be done about this. Becca, Ashley, Cesar – that means we need to hang out! :D

I guess I have some explaining to do. I used to blog based on random ideas that would pop into my head. I think (and appropriately so) that Twitter has “cured” my sense of random blogging. If you don’t follow me on Twitter, then you should look over to your right (unless you’re reading this in an RSS feed reader) and check out my Tweets.

Anyway, I’d like to apologize ahead of time for the length of this post, as I foresee a long one (no TWSS comments plx).

Going to the Mall of Louisiana on Saturday is always interesting. Today I went to buy a shirt for work, and ended up seeing someone I know and getting asked for a high five by a random girl. The only problem with going to the mall is that it’s hard to go and not spend money, but I did *need* a polo shirt for work and Aeropostale was having some sort of AMAZING sale today. I don’t normally shop there or American Eagle (for some reason, I closely associate the two), but I can’t really argue with a $10 shirt.

I watched Yes Man and Fanboys last weekend, and both movies were pretty awesome. Fanboys was good, but Yes Man was better, in my opinion. It was hilarious, and I think it pulled me into the Zooey Deschanel fanboy craze. I want to share my favorite scene with you guys, but it takes a short setup. Basically, Jim Carrey says yes to everything in this movie, including things like guitar lessons. The plot leads up to a point where he’s in a store, and someone runs in and says that there’s some guy threatening to jump off of a building outside. They run back outside, and some lady says, “Somebody needs to talk him down,” and being that Jim Carrey says yes to everything, he immediately runs in the building to try to help…

My initial reaction to that was pure, unrestrained laughter. It is the best use of a song in a movie, ever. Third Eye Blind, FTW.

WWDC is on Monday. I’m going to get an iPhone when the new one is released, so I guess I’m kind of looking forward to it. I’ve become rather convinced over the past two years that no one else can make a phone that’s any better, despite the (few) shortcomings the iPhone has, so I guess I’m going to sell my soul back to AT&T for two years after being contract free for almost two years. :(

I have about 15 GB of free space on my desktop. I seriously need to buy a 1/1.5 TB hard drive, but I don’t feel like spending the money. :\ I’ll probably end up backing up my ginormous anime folder onto DVDs and then delete it.

Lately, I’ve been really enjoying synthesized music, like Hellogoodbye’s “Bonnie Taylor Shakedown 2k1/2k4.”

Anyone have any music suggestions based on this?

I really don’t understand this. The Superdrive in Kalmiya (my MacBook Pro) is going out. It still reads discs just fine, but it fails burning 75% of the time. It’s under warranty, so it’s not a big deal, but it’s such a hassle, and I hate being without Kalmiya for the few days it takes to get fixed.

Anyway, after noticing this a few days ago, of course today I realized the DVD burner in my desktop no longer reads discs. I need to do some more testing to make sure I’m not having a software issue, but it appears to be down for the count.

And of course, the DVD burner in my Hack Mini doesn’t write discs, but it does read them. However, I built that computer with that old, broken drive on purpose, since it doesn’t need to burn discs.

Luckily, I have an external DVD burner, but I’m sure with my luck, it’ll be out in the next few days. :\

I made a list of the things I need to buy when I actually have some real income, and it’s just growing longer. Speaking of the job, I haven’t gotten the acceptance papers in the mail yet, and if that doesn’t get done in time, I can’t start on the first of the month like I was supposed to. Hopefully I’ll get those tomorrow or something.

I got my digital cable back last week. I really missed it – mostly for the guide and the HD channels. I don’t even look at SD channels anymore. Even shows that aren’t broadcast in HD look amazing on the HD channels, albeit, they’re not widescreen, so I have to overscan the picture to make it look right, but i usually leave it alone.

Apparently before Katy Perry was the Katy Perry, she sang most of the songs for a group called The Matrix. They recorded an album in 2004 but the project got canceled, and only after she found success in her solo career did they release the album. It’s got some pretty good songs on it. :D I really like this one:

One last thing – Dragonball Evolution leaked onto YouTube, and it looked pretty terrible, but the quality was too bad for me to stand, so I didn’t watch it. I still want to see it though, even though I’m sure I’ll be disappointed.

The 18-day late 2008 year in review

Here’s some stand-out stuff about 2008, according to me! :D

-Best movie of 2008: Speed Racer (I suggest clicking ‘watch in HD’)

-Best musical artist I started listening to in 2008 (I want to avoid the intricacies of the word “new”): Katy Perry (always liked this song, glad they finally released it as a single)

-Best new song of 2008: Disloyal Order of Water Buffaloes

-Best new TV show of 2008: I don’t think I started watching any new shows in 2008. :(

-Coolest technology of 2008: Unibody MacBook/MacBook Pro (seriously, what else would you expect? :P )

-Most embarrassing day of 2008: October 3

-Coolest day of 2008: December 11

That’s about all I can think of for now. :P

I filled up my tub with water and let Celery swim around in it. It was funny, I’ve never seen him swim around like that so much. :D

Anyway, Michelle came up to Baton Rouge on Thursday. We did a lot of movie watching, eating out, shopping, and other stuff. We saw Changeling on Friday, which I highly recommend to anyone looking for a good historical drama or just a very good movie in general. We also went to the Tanger Outlets and Cabela’s on Saturday, which was pretty fun. I found a small birthday present for my sister and we bought some fudge from Cabela’s. We went ice skating later that day. Man, that sure is fun. Sunday, we went looking for turtles. I want a friend for Celery, but small turtles are hard to find since they can’t be sold in pet stores. Michelle went to class with me on Monday, and then she went home.

Now, pictures:

We found this card behind Herget or McVoy hall on campus (forgot exactly which one). It seemed really poetic for some reason, all burned and surrounded by dying rose petals…

“Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet” may not strike you immediately as great song name, but it’s a freaking awesome song. So is “What a Catch, Donnie.” Really looking forward to this new Fall Out Boy album. Three songs and an acoustic are released in some form so far and they are all incredibly awesome.

And speaking of entertainment-type-things, my fall TV shows have been back for some time (minus Lost, of course :( ). Heroes is looking better than last season. Smallville somehow managed to stay good even though 3 characters that have been in the show since season 1 died (aka, actors left) and 1 that was only in 1 season got written out (bye bye Supergirl? :| ). The Office has been great. Holly is pretty awesome; her and Michael will probably be the new Pam and Jim. New Family Guy too, but that’s not really as exciting for some reason, even though I love the show and both new episodes have been awesome.

Construction on the interstate during rush hour kind of blows, almost made us late to the Death Note movie. There was nothing I could do until I got to the Geismar exit and could get to Airline to bypass it all, but I managed to get Michelle and Samantha and get us there just in time where we only missed like two minutes. It was good, and the experience was different even though I’d already seen it subtitled. Watching it dubbed was kind of weird, but watching it with lots of other people and in a theater was pretty cool. I heard a lot of people crying at the end. Oh, and if anyone reading this has only seen the anime or read the manga, the movie ends differently, and they’re both totally worth watching (third movie is optional).

Speaking of the third movie, L Change the World, we also watched that this weekend, but subbed and on my computer instead of dubbed and in a theater. It wasn’t really a Death Note movie, and the only main character in it from Death Note was L. It wasn’t canon to the Death Note story, but they kind of tried to tie it in at the end, which didn’t really work since *spoiler* Nate Rivers really isn’t a Thai name, therefore Near cannot be the little boy */spoiler*. L as a character is pretty funny though, so watching an entire movie about him was interesting, albeit completely separate from anything even slightly Death Note related besides everyone’s favorite detective.

We (well, I, since Michelle fell asleep) also watched a Korean movie called Volcano High (lots of movies this weekend!). It really didn’t make too much sense to me, to be honest. The story wasn’t very meaningful, which surprised me for an Asian movie, but the fight scenes were very reminiscent of The Matrix, so that was pretty cool. Oh, and I bought the crappiest little DVD player I could find to put in my room at my parents’ house so I can stop borrowing my parents’, since that’s a big pain. It was $30 from Wal-Mart, and I was almost surprised that it came with a remote control and that it worked!

We went to Japan Fest today with Shai. That was pretty fun, though I remember there being slightly more stuff to do last time I went…or maybe I’m imagining things. That was a long time ago, after all. We ate at Chili’s, and the only reason I bring that up is because I wanted to say that aside from Roul’s, Chili’s has the best burgers ever, and that’s really weird to me because Roul at least has some special kind of burger – you can see the herbs or whatever in the burger. But Chili’s just has…burgers. But they’re really, really good. Go figure. Oh, and uh, not that today was my first time having their Strawberry lemonade, but that stuff is also freaking delicious.

This week’s to-do list:
-Monday: study for ISDS 4117 exam, do small group assignment for MGT 3830
-Tuesday: group project meeting for ISDS 4117
-Wednesday: do part of big group project for ISDS 4125

So I’m feeling kind of overwhelmed at the moment.

The new MacBooks and MacBook Pros are amazing, and anyone that doesn’t think so probably isn’t very awesome themselves. :P In a couple years if I feel the need to get a new laptop, I honestly have no reason to get a MacBook Pro again with the updates to the MacBook line.

Bleh. Long updated, I need sleep.

I’m Alive

Sorry if you wanted whatever I left you, because for whatever reason, I’m still alive, and now wisdom toothless. I got it done Friday morning, and it didn’t leave me in pain or anything…it’s just been really annoying and tedious to take care of. I can’t wait until I can chew normally again. :|

Saturday I was more or less doing what I normally do, except not as much of it. Saw Mirrors on Sunday with Michelle, during which we both learned a very valuable lesson dealing with old ladies and zombies, but I don’t want to spoil anything in case someone that’s reading this actually plans on seeing it.

Sunday night Michelle begged me to stay with her, and since I didn’t feel like getting entirely back to normal yet with work and everything (and I said I’d be back Monday or Tuesday), I did. I got a chance to get some more much needed sleep (and hopefully healing) and ate some real food! And speaking of that real food, the chicken Alfredo pasta at Pizza Hut isn’t half bad (the chicken wasn’t that great, but the pasta itself was good).

Work has been busy today. We’ve got three new people who seem pretty cool and ready to work and learn, so hopefully Team IS will be good times this final semester. Sure could use a real job soon so I don’t have to worry about that for the next 4+ months. D:

There are so many things I wish I could blog about that I can’t. Well, it’s more along the lines of wanting to write certain things in a public place all the while keeping some sort of privacy. It’s not that I want to write about people so much as it is wanting to write about certain things that could offend random people that read this.

And speaking of offending people, I sure do wish that apologizing wasn’t so hard for some people. I mean, you guys read this, you know I apologize in here sometimes for crap – or heck, I’ve probably apologized to you in person for something. I just wish the same courtesy was shown to me (don’t worry, I’m not talking to everyone reading this – just one person).

I mean, is admitting you’re wrong and saying you’re sorry really that hard? I do it when I don’t even feel like I’m wrong sometimes. :|

Anyway, I guess I’d better stop before I get on a serious rant or something.

Someone tell Facebook to get rid of that stupid TRY THE NEW FACEBOOK!!!!! bar, please.

You Know The Rules

And so does James Bond.

So, the wisdom teeth are coming out. This Friday, actually. Not excited at all.

Last week I planted a garlic clove in a plastic cup full of soil just to see what would happen, and right now it’s growing a sprout that’s about as tall as the cup and it split into two sprouts or whatever the heck you call it.

I saw this the other day on the corner of Highland and West Parker:

I mean, I saw The Dark Knight, and it was a good movie, but I’ve seen better this year. Then again, it was a good year for movies. Anyway, I didn’t think it was good enough for a random sign for a fake politician. If only people spent that much effort on real politics then maybe we wouldn’t have so many problems right now. :|

I hope no one needs styrofoam or boxes right now, cause we definitely have a lot of both at work…

…and I don’t feel like hauling them to anyone. :D

Whenever I graduate and leave ResLife, I sure am going to miss having some sort of authority and being back on the bottom again. Speaking of that, I think I might be submitting some resumés today. D:

You know, even though I don’t like the whole anime convention/cosplaying thing, I’m kind of looking forward to AWA. I’m not sure why, but I just have this feeling it’ll be different and might actually be a little fun. I mean, I always have fun spending time with my friends, but the conventions themselves are just a bunch of wandering around a bunch of smelly anime nerds and browsing through overpriced merchandise. Now I just have to hope that my fall schedule doesn’t ruin my chances of going, but I won’t know that until classes start.

Also, I wonder how many entries I’ve started off with the word “so”…
