On my way from Baton Rouge to Houma today, I decided to drop by the mall to see how the AT&T store was doing.

Now, Houma had a population of about 30k people in the 2000 census, and add to that the influx of people in 2005 that moved here from New Orleans thanks to Katrina, as well as normal population growth, and I’d say Houma has about 34-35k people.

I got to the mall about 45 minutes after 6 P.M., which was when the iPhone went on sale. I parked outside of Dillard’s and as I was walking in, I saw a teenager with an AT&T bag. Then, a little after him, I saw a business guy with an AT&T bag.

“People in Houma are buying this? Awesome!” I thought.

I walked out of Dillard’s, just a couple hundred feet from the AT&T store.

“I like your hair.” <- random girl in a group of teenaged girls. Uh, my response?

"Thanks." I kept walking. I heard her say "Asshole" and they all had a little laugh.

I don't get it. (At first, I thought she said "Apple." Yes, you can tell what I had on my mind).

The AT&T store was pretty crowded. There was a crowd control guy and it was pretty packed. I smiled and walked back to my car.

Now to let Apple fix anything that might be wrong with it in the next couple of months, and then I'll decide if I want one.

Also, I donated $25 to Ron Paul's campaign. If you support him, I urge you to do the same. He really needs the help! If you don't care about politics, take some time to look at his Wikipedia article, and I promise that you'll care! I'll probably make a post about this later.

Also, I took this picture out of my sunroof while I was driving home after all of the above-mentioned events. I thought it looked pretty.

Catch Up

I really haven’t been blogging much, and when I do, I usually forget to write about stuff that I meant to write about, so I think I need to do some catching up!

I got a haircut on Saturday. It doesn’t look any different, though. I was gonna chop it all off, but I couldn’t do it. >< So, instead, I told Donnie (probably the only straight hair stylist dude I’ve ever seen) to just get rid of the nasty ends.

I ended up taking my parents out to eat as a late birthday present to my dad. That’s probably the best thing I could’ve done, since like most people, when he wants something, he just goes out and buys it, which doesn’t leave me with very many options on what to buy him for gifts.

Apple/AT&T announced the rates for the iPhone plan, and suddenly I’m interested again. It would only cost $20 per month to add the unlimited data package to my plan. And no, I’m not getting an iPhone right now, or ever unless Apple opens it up a little more. I’m just saying that if they were ever to release a revision of the iPhone, or some updates to it that I like, well then, I’ll consider it. For now, I’d like to see how its first few months on the market do.

Ron Paul is polling at 2%. That’s rather disappointing.

I should be studying for my finance exam…which is tomorrow. Yeah, I’m going to go and do that.

Jupiter Star Power!

You have to read this; trust me, it’s not -about- anime, even though it may look like it.

This is Sailor Jupiter, from the anime ‘Sailor Moon,’ and I saw her yesterday at Sam’s Club.

I know it’s hard to see, but I’m dead serious. This isn’t a girl that happened to be dressed somewhat like Sailor Jupiter – no. This girl was pretty much cosplaying right there in Sam’s. She had the green skirt and green thing at the back of her neck just like Sailor Jupiter, as well as a pink bow on the front of her shirt and on the back of her skirt.

Fangirls really creep me out sometimes.

Without Wireless

So I’m convinced that most people that want an iPhone don’t even know what other smart phones do. Better yet, I’m convinced they don’t know that the iPhone will be less functional that most smart phones.

Ouch.

I’m also convinced that most people don’t know how big of a douchebag Rudy Giuliani is.

My dad’s birthday was on Tuesday and I still don’t know what to get him. It’s hard enough to think of something to get him for father’s day, much less his birthday, which is always right around the corner. I’d ask for suggestions, but I wouldn’t get any.

NVidia’s Vista drivers for the MacBook Pro blow. Step it up, please.

LSU’s wireless just went down and the guy in front of me is trying to connect to a computer-to-computer wireless network called “hpsetup.” Genius. >> What’s weird is, two other computer-to-computer networks have popped up since the wireless went down, and this guy in front of me has been trying to connect to all of them for the past 10 minutes. It’s geting kind of funny now.

Even though ISDS 3115 has been extremely boring, it’s far easier than 2000 or 2001. I got a 93 on my exam on Tuesday. It would be nice if I got an A in this class; I could use an A.

Ha, that guy in front of me just restarted his computer. I’d feel sorry for him, but that would take the fun out of it.

Dammit, I don’t have MacStumbler on here yet to tell me when there’s a wireless network available. Now I have to keep checking.

Ah! Wireless is back now. I’ll stop writing.

You Park Like an Asshole

Today most of Team IS went to Atcha’s for lunch, and two of the closest parking spots by the door were taken up by one jackass who parked perpendicular to the building in diagonal parking spots, and when I saw that, it reminded me of a funny website I saw a while back, YouParkLikeAnAsshole.com.

I’ve got eighteen of these and a camera with me at all times and I’m not afraid to use them.

If that was my license plate, I would not drive on May 20th.

Classes Thus Far, Summer 07 Edition

So the highlight of my 3 days of class so far was when my finance teacher put up this slide…

…and asked who was on the right side. Half of the class responded “Bill Gates.” Then she pointed to the left side and said, “Now who is this?” Of course, I said “Steve Ballmer,” all by myself, and my teacher was like, “Wow, no one in any of my other classes knew that.” YES I’M A NERD, THANKS.

Anywho, we can’t use laptops in finance, but that’s okay. I think I’ll learn more by printing the notes out and writing things on them. OMG!

ISDS 3115 is extremely boring. I can’t pay attention in there. It just doesn’t work. Why is it even an ISDS class? WHY? It should be a business class. No one in ISDS wants to go use the “decision sciences” part of the degree. I guarantee you everyone in ISDS wants to use the “information systems” part. LSU really needs to revise this degree, seriously. I’m not just saying that because I don’t like the 2000 level ISDS classes and this one; I’m saying that because it’s 100% accurate. I really want to get into my security class and my other REAL ISDS classes. I’d much rather have to complain about how Microsoft Access is hard or something. At least that’s related to my degree and I’ll actually be learning something useful.

MacBook Pro Unboxing

So it seems that writing about how cool FedEx is has become all the rage. Shanghai on the 8th, Baton Rouge on the 11th. That’s right, over the weekend. FedEx rules.

Yeah, I got my MacBook Pro yesterday (Monday), and I absolutely love it, but you guys already knew that. Anywho, I took unboxing pictures, so here they are.

Anyway, like I thought, it’s plenty portable and it makes my iBook look thick.

I’ll probably post about some of the cool stuff I’ve done with it later, but for now, that’s it.

While I’m on this subject, I never posted a picture of my new display, so here is one. I couldn’t be happier with it, by the way (unless it would’ve been cheaper/free ). It’s a Dell 2407WFP.

I’ll probably write about my classes tomorrow. I’ve got a good idea of what’s going in them now.

I usually sign my posts on Gaia, so I think I’ll start doing it here too.

I’m sitting in what will be my Finance 3715 class, which will start in about 3 minutes, and for some reason, I don’t really care. Maybe it’s because there’s a bunch of cool stuff happening this week and I was looking forward to it regardless of summer classes starting.

Hey, I forgot to bring a notebook. Awesome. Now I have to type everything!

FedEx is awesome. Period. UPS and DHL can just GTFO. If Ron Paul had it his way and he took away the oligopoly the USPS has, I would totally use FedEx for all of my mail, assuming they would then start offering a mail delivery service.

WWDC 2007 is in 3 hours. Awesome.

Oh yeah. I’m getting my hair cut next Saturday. Short enough to where I don’t have to straighten it. Yeah, that means short. I love my hair, I just hate the maintenance. So…it’s going away.
