About Me

Last updated: 6-19-10

For my About Me page, I decided one of these long quiz things would cover pretty much everything, so here you go. I first did this one 3 years ago, and I changed most of my answers, surprisingly. I also kind of “dove into” some of the questions and answered more than they asked.

Note: I sometimes go through this and update it when I’m bored, and I’m also very sarcastic throughout the course of this page. :D

-Name: Philip Daniel DiStefano.

-Computer(s): MacBook Pro, iPhone/iPad (…what? My iPhone and iPad have taken over some of the duties of my MBP :P ), new desktop (built), HTPC (built), netbook (Dell Mini 9), old desktop (built), older desktop (Dell), old laptop (Toshiba), G3 iMac. Even though my desktop is way more powerful than my laptop and has an SSD and all of that jazz, I still use my laptop more.

-School: Louisiana State University for graduate school.

*Opinions and Questions*

-Best book you’ve read in school: Signal to Noise, since I technically first read it in school, though it wasn’t for a class. The best book I’ve read for a class would be “To Kill a Mockingbird” in 10th grade.

-Best kind of music: Pop-Punk, Synth Pop/Electropop, Post-Grunge, and Country are mostly what I listen to. I like something about most genres of music, and I’ve found that appreciating music as a whole rather than one type of music is much more fulfilling.

-Do you like someone famous: Yes, I like a lot of famous people.

-If yes, who?: Zooey Deschanel, others.

-What are your favorite clothing brands?: Billabong, BKE, Hurley, Quiksilver, Volcom, Fox, and Express.

-What is your idea of a perfect date?: Being with someone you really like in a nice, romantic place.

-What is your idea of a perfect honeymoon?: Going somewhere special…I really don’t know. I’d like a nice island somewhere, but that’s far too expensive. D:

-What is your idea of a perfect wedding?: Marrying someone awesome.

-What song reflects your life the most?: “The Road and the Radio” by Kenny Chesney or “Real World” by Matchbox Twenty, and I’m not just listing those songs because I like them. I actually do relate to both of them pretty well.

-What lyric reflects your life the most?: There’s probably something better, but “We the meek are all in one,” is a good one.

-What hospital were you born in?: I think Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC), which is in Houma, LA.

-Which celebrity has the best hair?: Female: Utada Hikaru, Zooey Deschanel, and Katy Perry (straight, dark/black hair is pretty, though sometimes Katy’s bangs are just freaky), Male: Josh Holloway (I wish my hair was like his).

-What do you wear to bed?: Boxers and a T-shirt pretty much year round.

-What kind of socks do you wear?: None when I can help it, but if it’s cold or rainy and I wear shoes instead of flip-flops, then I typically wear Hurley or Volcom socks (ankle or tube, depending on the occasion).

-What kind of toothpaste do you use?: Crest Vivid White Refreshing Mint and Crest Pro Health Cool Night Mint.

-What kind of shampoo?: I change it up a lot, so uh…whatever.

-What brand is your TV?: Westinghouse, 42″ 1080p. I love my TV. :D

-Have you ever done any extreme sports?: Sports and I don’t get along very well.

*Favorites*

-Books: Signal to Noise, A Signal Shattered, and the Halo book series.

-College: LSU, duh.

-Stores: Buckle, Express, PacSun.

-Kind of chainletters: I hate chain-mail. When I get chain emails, I delete them or ignore them no matter what they say.

-Poems: Creed lyrics – seriously. “But she could not hide her tears, ‘Cause they were sent to wash away those years,” still gets me. Fall Out Boy lyrics are great too because of the amazing one-liners.

-News channel: I get most of my news from RSS feeds. I get sick of hearing about how Fox News isn’t “fair and balanced” as their motto suggests, and I pretty much just don’t care about most mainstream news as it’s just easier to get news on the Internet. I really, really hate the constant flow of uber-liberal “fair and balanced” news from Digg and Reddit, but those sites are great for other stuff.

-TV shows: Lost, Smallville, Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien, Heroes, The Office, Outlaw Star, Futurama, Family Guy, Arrested Development, One Piece.

-Five girl names: 1) Chloe 2) Miranda 3) Addie 4) Julie 5) Zoey.

-Five boy names: 1) Brendon and I’m drawing a blank after that.

-Favorite Actress(es): Natalie Portman and Zooey Deschanel. I will watch *any* movie with Natalie Portman because she truly makes characters come to life, and, well…who doesn’t love Zooey Deschanel?

-Favorite Actor(s): Steve Carrell.

-Male singer: Scott Stapp (old Creed days before he lost his vocal range), Brendon Urie, and Patrick Stump. Brendon Urie can sing anything he wants and I will listen to it. He could cover “My Humps” for all I care. His voice is amazing, and he is definitely my favorite singer.

-Female singer: Lady Gaga, Utada Hikaru, Katy Perry, and Amy Lee, though Evanescence’s latest album was a bit of a letdown, her voice is still amazing. Also, Jessica Andrews, though I haven’t heard anything new from her in a long time. D:

-CD: “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out” – Panic! At The Disco. This spot was previously held by “My Own Prison” by Creed. Although Creed is my favorite band overall, I’ve listened to “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out” somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 times counting iTunes and in my car, and I still love it. I also really like “Infinity on High” by Fall Out Boy.

-Bands: Creed, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, and Cobra Starship. Honestly, this changes depends on when you ask me, but these have been my top four for long enough to be sure they’ll stay there for a while, though it’s not necessarily in any particular order.

-Movies: Speed Racer, Avatar, Walk the Line, Goldeneye, The World is Not Enough, Jurassic Park, Suicide Club, Pirates of Silicon Valley, Office Space, The Matrix Trilogy, V for Vendetta, O Brother Where Art Thou?, Equilibrium (also not necessarily in that order).

-Musical: The Producers (the new one, never saw the old one unfortunately) and Across the Universe.

-Song: “Torn” by Creed is my favorite song of all time. This spot was previously held by “My Own Prison,” also by Creed. “Torn” took over some time a few years ago.

-Website: Reddit, Facebook, Gaia’s Tech Talk Forums, Slickdeals, Dealsplus, Camaro5.

-Music Award Show: The Flameworthy Awards on CMT, simply because I actually like most country artists.

-Music Video: “My Sacrifice” by Creed and “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” by Panic! at the Disco. “A Little Less Candles, A Little More Touch Me” by Fall Out Boy is pretty funny, and more recently, I’ve found “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga to be quite enjoyable.

-Vegetable: Broccoli (stir fried)

-Meal: Boudin omelet at the Chimes. Yummm.

-Soda: Root Beer and suicide. Not root beer in suicide though – that kind of ruins the mix for some reason.

-Drink in general: Water with lemon, apple juice, suicide. I like strawberry smoothies too.

-Alcoholic drink: Margaritas on the rocks are probably my favorite, and coffee and honey flavored liqueur are also pretty awesome.

-Cheese: Mild cheddar and mozzarella. I love cheese, but it doesn’t like me very much.

-Fast Food Place: Quizno’s and Taco Bell. I don’t really like chain fast food places as much when I can go to Roul’s or Akasha for a dollar more.

-What do you get there: Steakhouse Beef Dip or Baja Chicken Sandwich at Quizno’s; Double Decker Taco, Crunchwrap, or Nachos Bell Grande at Taco Bell.

-Eat-in: Chili’s, Serrano’s, Outback, P.F. Chang’s, Chevy’s and Atcha Bakery (though I usually get that to go).

-What do you get there: Cajun Chicken Pasta/Triple Dipper, Steak Fajitas, Victoria’s Filet, Kung Pao Chicken, Combo Fajita Nachos and Gyro Platter with no salad and extra hummus…respectively. Usually I also get chips and salsa at Chili’s, and at Chevy’s and Serrano’s I get that every time since it’s free with the meal. By the way, Serrano’s has the best chips and salsa.

-Snack to munch on: Cookies, pastry type stuff…whatever I feel like at the moment.

-Kind of pizza: White pizza (spinach and cheese), deep dish cheese, and thin crust pepperoni are all pretty good.

-Ice cream: I’d much, much rather a smoothie. :D

-Bread: Garlic bread and honey wheat bread are both pretty delicious. The bread at Macaroni Grill, Bravo, and Outback is awesome.

-Pastry: Walnut baklavas from Atcha’s in Baton Rouge and apple fritters from Mr. Ronnie’s in Houma. Soooo freaking good.

-Cereal: Frosted Mini Wheats. Kind of grew up on those things. I still eat them dry at work all of the time. :P

-Meat: Nothing in particular, as long as it’s beef or seafood, I probably love it. Chicken and pork are okay, but secondary for me.

-Holiday: Christmas (how generic, I know). I just like the mood of the season and I’ve always gotten off a lot of time from school for Christmas, which is a plus. I think Christmas also makes you appreciate people more.

-Place in your house: My room.

-Place to be alone: My car. Lucky for me, because I’m alone in it a lot.
